    Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, which has developed over many centuries. The word "ikebana" literally means "the art of flowers." Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers; it is an art form that seeks to express simplicity, harmony, and natural beauty. Ikebana is also used as a form of meditation and an expression of a spiritual connection with nature.

    The bundle includes the two most important tools for preparing ikebana - a kenzan and floristry scissors, which are stored in a practical all-metal box.

    Kenzans are metal plates with needles, pins, or spikes that secure flowers, leaves, and branches in arrangements. The needles hold the plants in place, allowing for different arrangements of flowers. The kenzan is then placed in a container with water, which is often transparent or very open, allowing the stems and other parts of the plants to stand out as well as the flowers. In the winter months, dried flowers can also be used for ikebana, or you can create a Christmas decoration inspired by ikebana.

    Toyo Steel 

    Toyo Steel is the first company in the world to develop the technology for making metal tool boxes from a single piece of steel. Their products have received the "Good Design Award" and the "Long Life Design Award" and have been popular since 1969.

    Sakagen 

    Sakagen, based in Sanjo, Japan, has been producing world-famous floristry scissors for over a century. Since its founding in 1903, the company has specialized in manufacturing high-quality tools using traditional techniques and the latest equipment.

    Ishizaki Kenzan

    Ishizaki Kenzan is based in the city of Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture. Stainless steel kenzans are handmade here - needles are inserted one by one into a plate with small holes, which is then placed into a mold and cast with molten steel. Ishizaki Kenzan prides itself on the quality of its products and supplies them worldwide.


    Maintenance

    The toolbox and kenzan require no special maintenance. After use, wash the kenzan with water. Remove dirt from the base and between the needles. Dry and store in a place where it won't fall, out of reach of children.

    The scissors are made of steel with a higher carbon content, so it is necessary to care for the blades. After each use, clean and keep the scissors dry. Regularly oil them, let dry, and then pat them dry. For maintenance, you can use camellia oil or our offered maintenance kit.
