    Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement that has developed over many centuries. The word "ikebana" literally means "the art of flowers." Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers, it is an art form that seeks to express simplicity, harmony, and natural beauty. Ikebana is also used as a means of meditation and a way to express a spiritual connection with nature.

    The bundle contains the two most important tools for preparing ikebana - the kenzan and floristic scissors, which are stored in a practical all-metal box. 

    Kenzans are metal plates with needles, pins, or spikes that secure flowers, leaves, and branches in arrangements. The needles hold the plants in place and allow for various flower arrangements. The kenzan is then placed in a container of water, which is often transparent or very open, so that, apart from the flowers, the stems and other parts of the plants stand out. In the winter season, dried flowers can be used for ikebana, or an ikebana-inspired Christmas decoration can be created.

    Ishizaki Kenzan

    Ishizaki Kenzan is based in the city of Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture. Stainless steel kenzans are hand-made here - needles are inserted one by one into a plate with small holes, which is then placed in a mold and filled with molten steel. Ishizaki Kenzan prides itself on the quality of its products and supplies them worldwide.


    Maintenance

    The toolbox and kenzan require no special maintenance. Wash the kenzan with water after use. Remove dirt from the base and between the needles. Dry and store in a place where there is no risk of falling, away from children.

    The scissors are made of steel with a higher carbon content, so it's necessary to take care of the blades. After work, always clean and keep the scissors dry. Regularly apply oil, let it soak, and dry. For care, you can use camellia oil or our offered maintenance kit.
