Detailed information

Product detailed description

Japanese floral scissors designed for flower arrangement in the Ikebana style.

Model T-9 is made of Japanese forged carbon steel. The blades of the scissors are short, extremely sharp, but have a small cutting diameter. Thanks to their sharpness, they allow for a precise and clean cut that helps plants better absorb water. They can be used not only for Ikebana, but for general floral arrangements and gardening, as well as for working with bonsai.

The handles have a traditional Japanese loop design. The black color is achieved through a process called baking - a special heat treatment without the use of chemical dyes. The scissors are multifunctional and also suitable for beginners.

Toyama Hamono

Made by Toyama Hamono, a Japanese manufacturer based in the traditional blacksmith district of Sanjo Niigata. Its history began in 1861 when it started producing cutlery products. Today, Toyama Hamono is an established brand recognized not only in its home country but also in Western markets. Their current products still carry the tradition and craftsmanship of making Japanese samurai swords. In production, they combine modern steel drawing manufacturing technologies with hand sharpening, grinding, and final finishing.

Material

The scissors are made from high carbon steel, which gives the material higher hardness, very good durability, and the ability to achieve extreme sharpness. Over time, a patina may develop, but it does not reduce functionality. With improper maintenance, the material is susceptible to rust or chipping.

Note: Delivered in a gift package. A blade guard is included.

Maintenance

The scissors are intended for cutting fresh plants and flowers with a stem diameter up to 10 mm.
Cutting anything other than plants or misusing them can cause damage. Do not cut hard objects such as wires, artificial and dried flowers, hard shrubs, or bamboo.

Steel with a higher carbon content requires careful maintenance. Always clean the scissors after use and keep them dry. Depending on usage, regularly oil them, let them dry, and dry further. You can use camellia oil or our offered maintenance set. Oiling is also recommended if you plan to store them for a longer period.
