Product detailed description

Ikebana Scissors Black Toyama Hamono T-9

Japanese florist scissors designed for flower arranging in the Ikebana style. Model T-9 is made from Japanese forged carbon steel. The blades of the scissors are short, extremely sharp, but with a small cutting diameter. Thanks to their sharpness, they allow for precise and clean cutting, which helps plants better absorb water. They can be used not only for ikebana but for general flower arranging and gardening, as well as bonsai work. The handles feature a traditional Japanese loop shape design. The black color is achieved by a process called baking - a special heat treatment without the use of chemical dyes. The scissors are multi-purpose and also suitable for beginners.

Today, Toyama Hamono is an established brand and recognized not only domestically but also in western markets. Their current products still embody the tradition and craft of making samurai Japanese swords. In production, they combine modern steel drawing manufacturing technologies with hand sharpening, polishing, and final finishing.

Material

YCS3 is a premium Japanese steel featuring high toughness, making it less brittle and more resistant to edge chipping. Unlike the extremely hard Aogami steel, YCS3 is easier to sharpen. While Aogami retains its edge slightly longer under extreme use, YCS3 offers better mechanical durability and easier maintenance.

Note: Delivered in gift packaging. Includes a blade protective cover.

Maintenance

The shears are intended for cutting fresh branches and stems up to a diameter of 10 mm. It is recommended to cut softer and thinner branches to familiarize yourself with the tool before cutting larger and stronger branches. Cutting anything other than plants or their improper use may cause damage. Do not cut hard objects like wires, artificial and dried flowers, hard bushes, or bamboo. High-carbon steel requires careful maintenance. Always clean the shears after work and keep them dry. Depending on usage, regularly apply oil, let dry, and finish drying. You can use camellia oil or our offered maintenance set. Oiling is also recommended if you plan to store them for an extended period.
