Product detailed description

Toyama Hamono Scissors Maintenance Set

Scissors maintenance set from Toyama Hamono. It contains anti-corrosion oil, a stain and rust remover, and a sharpening stone. You can use it for maintaining garden shears as well as other smaller garden tools, in the studio, and at home, especially those made of carbon steel. Scissors made from steel with a higher carbon content require more attention. Carbon gives the steel higher hardness, very good durability, and it sharpens well. On the other hand, if used improperly, it is prone to chipping and rusting. Therefore, scissor care includes regular cleaning, oiling, and, depending on the level of use, also resharpening. After each use, always wipe the scissors with a dry cloth, remove dirt, gently coat with oil, and keep them dry. If you want to store the scissors for a longer period or do not use them often, coat the clean blade with oil, let it dry slightly, and wrap the blade in a sheath, newspaper, or a piece of cloth. Sharpen the blades as needed using a so-called wet method, with a stroke along the entire edge.

Their current products still carry the tradition and craftsmanship of making samurai Japanese swords. In production, they combine modern steel-drawing technologies with manual sharpening, grinding, and final finishing.

Set Contents

120 ml bottle with high-quality Japanese anti-corrosion oil. Lubricating the blade after use prevents corrosion, maintains smooth opening and closing of the blade, and creates a better environment for storage.

The rust and stain remover is a soft abrasive similar to rubber, which can be used to thoroughly scrape plant sap and dirt that adheres to the surface of the scissors. It can also remove surface rust. It is characterized by its thinness, allowing it to fit into narrow spaces. It is especially useful for maintaining tools that come into contact with plants. The set contains 2 pieces.

The oil stone allows sharpening of scissors without disassembling them. It is crafted to fit into narrow gaps in the blade, which allows you to resharpen scissors and other tools of all shapes. It has a medium grit with a particle size of #320. Can be used with water or honing oil.

Usage
