Stryi is a Ukrainian manufacturer of carving tools founded in 2009. The brand name matches the name of the city it originates from - Stryi, in the western part of Ukraine. Their production focuses on carving and woodworking tools, continuing a tradition especially prevalent around the Carpathian Mountains. In production, Stryi maintains full control over each phase, from template preparation and shaping to heat treatment, polishing, sharpening, and adjustment.

The blade is made of high-quality carbon steel, renowned for its durability and ease of sharpening even with long-term use. The blade and copper ferrule gradually gain a subtle patina over time, which enhances the character of the tool. The handle is made from oak wood treated with linseed oil, comfortable to hold, and naturally aging. 

Steel with a higher carbon content offers higher sharpness, easier sharpening, but requires more care compared to stainless steel. Keep the carbon steel blade clean and dry after use. For longer storage, we recommend preserving it with a suitable oil, for example, camellia oil. The potential formation of patina is a common phenomenon with carbon steel and is not a defect in the material.
