    Wabi Inspirations - Axel Vervoordt

    Home is a place where we surround ourselves with things that reflect our attitude toward the world. The traditional Japanese concept of wabi, which originated in the 12th century, is based on modesty, humility, and setting aside everything superfluous. In collaboration with Japanese architect Tatsuro Miki, Axel Vervoordt brings these principles into European interior design and architecture. The book offers a glimpse into specific projects in Japan, Korea, Belgium, and Switzerland. It shows how a combination of raw stone, aged wood, patinated objects, and the use of natural light creates spaces with an atmosphere of calm and harmony.

    Axel Vervoordt is a Belgian antiques dealer, art collector, and interior architect. In his work, he combines historical objects with modern minimalism and Eastern philosophy. 


    Tatsuro Miki is a Japanese architect based in Brussels who specializes in transferring traditional Japanese spatial aesthetics into contemporary buildings.
