Max Bainbridge was born in London in 1991 and studied fine art at Chelsea College of Art, graduating in 2013 as a photographer and sculptor. Bainbridge's sculptural vessels carved from wood reflect the need to create a tangible and grounded presence in space through the physical form of the object. He draws from the natural shape and form of wood and, using turning, hand carving, and basic processes, creates objects that reflect the process of their creation. He works with wood sourced directly from the landscape, and his works create a deep connection with place through the ritualistic relationships he builds between objects and their origins.
