Up There: Untold Stories of Tatra Mountaineer Huts - Samo Marec
"A book of untold stories of Tatra mountain huts. It contains stories and reflections on small anecdotes, as well as true legends that should not be missing for any mountain lover. You will learn, for example, about the secret visit of the pope to the Silesian House, about drawing straws at Rysy, or about a Czech tourist and her wedding dowry. The author is journalist Samo Marec, whose father was a hut keeper at three of them. But that is not all. For each of the 13 huts, we have described the atmosphere, added curiosities, and timeless tips. We also added original photographs by Jakub Čaprnka and drawings by Ivana Čobejová. Each hut also received its original illustration by our favorite desert author Adrian Macho." The book contains 504 photographs, 453 walked kilometers, 155 historical facts, 68 archival images, 20 people, 13 stories, and 111 curiosities.
