Libor Fojtík: The Tramps
Photographer Libor Fojtík was born into a tramp family and until the age of 18, he went on trips with and without his parents, carrying a backpack and wearing boots. After joining the climbing club in Příbor, he began traveling to higher mountains and abroad for climbing and high-mountain hiking. For more than 10 years, he has been a photojournalist for Hospodářské noviny. He needed to find a topic that interested him internally and that he enjoyed following long-term. In addition to photographing portraits for the Economia publishing house and other Czech magazines, he felt that documentary was what interested and excited him the most in the field of photography. The publishing house PositiF helped to publish an authorial photographic book about the purely Czech-Slovak phenomenon of tramping, which recently celebrated 100 years. Libor Fojtík photographed this largest and most numerous subculture in the Czech Republic at various places in Bohemia and Moravia for more than five years.
