    Suehiro SEI-010 Flattening Stone

    Flattening stone is intended for the maintenance and leveling of whetstones. Water sharpening stones wear unevenly during use, which leads to the formation of irregularities and slight depressions that can reduce the quality of sharpening. These irregularities and scratches can be easily repaired with the help of a flattening stone. This model from Suehiro is suitable for leveling and cleaning medium-grit and finishing whetstones. It is equipped with a plastic handle on the back, which makes handling easier and ensures even leveling. Regular use will ensure that your whetstones have a flat surface, which is essential for effective and precise sharpening of knives and tools.

    Material

    The stone is made of calcined aluminum oxide (PWA), which provides higher abrasive performance than ordinary white fused aluminum oxide (WA).

    Note: Supplied in an original cardboard box, includes a simple manual with pictures in English and Japanese.

    Maintenance

    After use, always clean and thoroughly dry the stone. Use only water for sharpening, do not use oil or chemical products. Avoid sharp impacts or contact with hard objects, as the stone could be damaged.

    Working procedure

    This flattening stone has a high density and is ready to use after light moistening.
    1. Soak the whetstone you want to level. The soaking time depends on the type of stone.
    2. Lightly moisten the flattening stone as well.
    3. Evenly move the flattening stone over the surface of the whetstone until it is flat.
    4. Regularly add water during work if the surface dries.
    5. After finishing, rinse both stones, thoroughly dry them, and store them in a dry and safe place.
