    Perforated Colander Sori Yanagi

    Food remnants often get caught in the mesh of ordinary wire colanders. The Sori Yanagi Perforated Colander uses smooth stainless steel with precisely positioned holes for rapid water drainage and easy cleaning. The 190 mm version fits perfectly into the same-sized Sori Yanagi bowl, making soaking and stacking easier.

    About the manufacturer

    Sori Yanagi (1915–2011), a prominent figure in post-war Japanese design, became renowned for combining Western industrial manufacturing with elements of traditional Japanese crafts. His work ranges from furniture and toys to subway stations. The kitchenware and cutlery designed by Yanagi have been manufactured since 1955 by Nihon Yoshokki in the city of Tsubame, one of Japan's traditional metalworking hubs.

    Materials and maintenance

    The colander is made of 18-8 stainless steel.



    The colander is dishwasher-safe. To preserve the steel’s surface, avoid using scouring pads and abrasive cleaning products.

    Good to know

    The curved base raises the perforated section slightly above the surface, allowing water to drain freely from the colander even when it is placed on the bottom of the sink.

    Sori Yanagi, známý tvorbou nadčasového designu a uživatelsky přívětivých nástrojů pro kuchyň a domácnost, je považován za jednoho z nejvlivnějších produktových designérů a vůdčích osobností poválečného průmyslového designu v Japonsku. Kromě nábytku a výrobků pro domácnost navrhoval také hračky, motocykly a dokonce i stanice metra. Jeho návrhy často propojují jednoduchou praktičnost a možnosti západního průmyslového designu s prvky a technikami japonských řemeslných tradic. Jeho překližkovou stoličku Butterfly Stool dnes vyrábí společnost Vitra. Většinu kuchyňského a stolního nádobí vyrábí společnost Nihon Yoshokki Co., Ltd. v japonském městě Tsubame v prefektuře Niigata, které je centrem výroby příborů a oceli.
