    Leather sheath for Merchant & Mills dressmaking scissors

    Storing sharp tools in protective cases extends their lifespan and keeps the blades in perfect condition. Scissors protected by a sheath are not damaged when being carried and do not pose a risk to other items in a work bag or drawer. The Merchant & Mills leather sheath is specially designed for traditional 8-inch dressmaking scissors. The sturdy hide absorbs impacts, protects the tip and blade edge, and prevents contact with ambient moisture. With use and frequent handling, the leather gradually softens, darkens, and develops a distinctive surface.

    Materials and maintenance

    The sheath is made of natural cowhide.

    Protect it from prolonged soaking and, if it gets wet, allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat. To maintain the flexibility of the leather, you can occasionally treat the surface with a small amount of wax or leather balm. Keep in mind that leather changes colour with use and develops a natural patina.

    Good to know

    Always put the sheath on clean, dry scissors. If you are not going to use the scissors for an extended period, make sure that no moisture remains on the blade, as it could cause corrosive spots to form beneath the leather.
