Behind the British brand Elemen’tary design is South London carpenter Justin Holmes, who was looking for a screwdriver that could handle any job and replace those that quickly wore out. The idea gradually evolved into a minimalist tool designed to stand the test of time and serve many purposes. His hand tools are made in small batches in an intimate workshop under Justin’s personal supervision.

One handle
All you need is one handle and several bits. One tool that adapts to whatever is needed at the time. The bit slots into the magnetic holder and stays firmly in place. On the longer versions, it is complemented by a fine thread for an even more secure connection. The basic set can be gradually expanded with additional Torx and Hex bits, allowing a single tool to handle everyday jobs as well as the small challenges that arise along the way.
Proven design language
The shape of the screwdrivers is inspired by vintage tools. The round handle with beveled edges will not roll off the table, so the screwdriver stays where you put it. The Elementary brand sees tools not merely as functional objects, but as part of the everyday experience. Its emphasis on detail, materials, and proportions is reflected in how we hold, use, and perceive the tool over time. In this context, it makes sense to consider not only the tool itself, but also the environment in which we use it.
The beech handle, treated with linseed oil, gradually darkens and becomes smoother. A patina is etched into the material and deepens with every use. The wood does not slip in the hand, allowing every movement to be made with confidence. High-quality materials and precise craftsmanship give Elemen’tary design tools a long life. These are tools that will withstand years of work and become a natural part of any workshop.
