    Short Broom for Balcony by Iris Hantverk

    Handmade broom from oil-treated birch wood and Arenga palm fibers. A flexible broom suitable for sweeping coarser dirt indoors or for cleaning around the entrance, on the balcony, and the terrace. Designed by Swedish designer Lovisa Wattman.

    The Swedish company Iris Hantverk was founded in 1906, focusing primarily on the traditional production of various types of brushes and brooms, including household, kitchen, bathroom, and decorative ones. What makes the company exceptional is the combination of quality materials and craftsmanship paired with an inclusive approach, employing visually impaired craftsmen. Iris Hantverk currently employs 17 staff. The company's core is its own brush production in the Enskede district, in the southern part of Stockholm.

    Material

    The handle is made from oil-treated birch wood and fibers from the Arenga palm. Arenga fiber is a medium to stiff plant fiber derived from the sugar palm Arenga Pinnata, which is primarily grown and processed in Indonesia. It is not treated with any chemicals and is 100% biodegradable. With simple care, it can last for many years or decades.

    Maintenance

    Arenga is highly resistant to sunlight, saltwater, and heat and lasts longer than many synthetic fibers. Birch wood can be restored with camellia or cold-pressed linseed oil. Allow the oil to be well absorbed into the wood before further use of the brush.

    Certification

    The suppliers of this product meet the requirements for product safety and respect for human rights - specifically, they hold Amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certifications. The Amfori BSCI certification guarantees that working conditions in all parts of the production process comply with international standards. Key areas such as fair remuneration, health and safety at work, the prohibition of forced and child labor, and environmental protection are regularly verified through audits. The FSC certification ensures responsible forest management, biodiversity protection, deforestation prevention, and respect for the rights of local communities.     Iris Hantverk je švédská firma specializující se na výrobu různých druhů kartáčů a štětců. Firma byla založena v roce 1906 a její hlavní zaměření spočívá v tradiční výrobě kartáčů a štětců různých typů, včetně domácích, kuchyňských, koupelnových a dekoračních. To, co firmu činí výjimečnou, je kombinace kvalitních materiálů a řemeslné práce spojená s inkluzivním přístupem, který zaměstnává zrakově postižené řemeslníky. V Iris Hantverk pracuje nyní 17 zaměstnanců. Výroba vázaných kartáčů na adrese Sandsborgsvägen, Enskede je srdcem výroby. 6 zrakově postižených řemeslníků zde z různých kultur vyrábí kartáče podle staré švédské tradice. Spolupracují též se zrakově postiženými řemeslníky v Estonsku, kteří stejně jako oni mají hluboké kořeny v hnutí pro zrakově postižené. Všechny kartáče mají exkluzivní design a jsou většinou vyrobeny z přírodních materiálů. Firma kladný důraz na inkluzi a podporu zrakově postižených řemeslníků. Tato filozofie má hluboké kořeny v hnutí pro zrakově postižené a je součástí dědictví a tradice Iris Hantverk. Firma se snaží propojit řemeslnou dovednost a kvalitu s moderním designem a přístupem k podnikání.

    Richard Sparrenhök a Sara Edhäll převzali vedení firmy od roku 2012 a pokračují v rozvíjení tradice a hodnot, které firma představuje.
