    Jan Šiman has been fly fishing since he was thirteen, and he enjoys fly fishing mostly in the Šumava area on the Otava, Křemelná, Vltava, and Volyňka rivers. He also fishes in Scandinavia, Slovenia, and Poland. He previously competed in fly fishing, being a member of the Czech national fly fishing team at the world championships in Great Britain in 1990, Italy in 1992, and Canada in 1993. He has been professionally involved in fly fishing since 1990, dealing with the production and export of fly fishing supplies and has been conducting Czech nymph courses for both Czech and foreign clientele for many years.
