    Set of Japanese Chopsticks Tsuchinao Shikki

    A beautiful set of Japanese chopsticks made from natural materials in the Tsuchinao Shikki workshop. The Echizen area is known as one of the oldest and most significant centers of lacquered products manufacturing in Japan. The Tsuchinao lacquered products series, which builds on this tradition, uses natural wood and a patented natural dishwasher-safe lacquer. These wooden chopsticks are lightweight, durable, and comfortable to hold. The set includes one pair of longer black chopsticks and one pair of shorter red chopsticks with decoration at their ends.

    Tsuchinao Lacquerware is a sub-producer of traditional Echizen lacquerware, i.e., lacquered craft goods from the Sabae region in the Fukui Prefecture, which is one of the main centers of Japanese lacquerware craftsmanship. Tsuchinao is part of the broader tradition of the Echizen lacquer school, but also combines classic techniques with modern ideas and design, thus expanding the traditional range with new forms and products.

    Material

    Natural wood and natural lacquer. The chopsticks are supplied in a paulownia wood box.

    Maintenance

    The chopsticks can be washed in the dishwasher. Do not use them directly on fire, in a microwave oven, in an oven, or in the fridge, as the lacquered surface may flake off, and there is also a risk of deformation or fire. Do not expose the chopsticks to direct sunlight or extreme dryness, as the colors may fade. Stop using the chopsticks if they show a crack, chip, split, or the lacquer is peeling off.
