Product detailed description

Japanese Nigiri Black Scissors 503-L by Misuzu Hasami

Nigiri Basami are the most common scissors in Japan. They are forged from a single piece of steel, they are exceptionally light and comfortable to hold. Their simple construction is designed for easy and quick use. They are mainly used for sewing and general handcrafts in the home or studio. They can be used for herbs or other small kitchen tasks. When cutting, they are held at the blade similarly to tweezers. Type No.503-L has a wide waist and extended blades, offering a slightly longer cut than other models. The scissors are made from carbon steel, they hold their edge for a long time and are relatively easy to sharpen. This is a highest quality product, created by a successful combination of traditional handcrafting and the most modern technologies. The surface is treated with the rust-resistant Ibushi finish and over time develops a pleasant patina.

Material

The scissors are made of composite material from the finest cutlery carbon steel Shirogami White Steel #1 and soft iron. Thanks to the coating of hard steel with soft iron, the blade has higher toughness, is highly durable and very easy to sharpen. This is a traditional technique that was also used in Japanese swords. The surface is treated with the rust-resistant Ibushi finish and over time develops a pleasant patina.

Maintenance

Steel with a higher carbon content (known as carbon steel) offers great sharpness, easier sharpening, but requires more care compared to stainless steel. The scissors need to be continuously oiled and preferably already before the first use. Keep the carbon steel blade clean and dry after use. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of oil - preferably camellia, but almost any household lubricant will suffice. This layer of oil protects the scissors from moisture and corrosion. For longer storage, it is again recommended to preserve them with suitable oil, or to wrap the scissors in a piece of cloth or paper. The formation of patina is a common phenomenon with carbon steel and is not a material defect.

Společnost Misuzu Hasami byla založena v roce 1949 a nabízí výrobky s vynikající ostrostí a trvanlivostí, zdokonalené úspěšnou kombinací tradice a nejmodernější technologie.
