Product detailed description

Japanese Nigiri Black 506 Scissors by Misuzu Hasami

Nigiri Basami are the most common scissors in Japan. They are forged from a single piece of steel, making them exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to hold. Their simple design is crafted for easy and quick use. They are mainly used for sewing and general handcraft work at home or in the studio. They can be used for herbs or other small kitchen tasks. When cutting, they are held at the blade similar to tweezers. Type no.506 has a wide waist (spring section), making them easy to hold and allowing for cutting thicker materials. The scissors are made of carbon steel, maintaining their edge for a long time and are relatively easy to sharpen. This is a product of the highest quality, created from a successful combination of traditional handcraft and the most advanced technologies. The surface is treated with Ibushi rustproofing and develops a pleasant patina over time.

Manufacturer

The Misuzu Hasami company was founded in 1949 and offers products with excellent sharpness and durability, refined by the successful combination of tradition and the latest technology. It specializes primarily in tailor's scissors and Japanese Nigiri scissors. Japanese Nigiri are the oldest form of scissors: they are forged from a single piece of steel, making them exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to hold. Misuzu manufactures them by hand, using traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Material

The scissors are made from a composite material of the finest cutlery carbon steel Shirogami White Steel #1 and soft iron. Due to the coating of hard steel with soft iron, the blade has higher toughness, is highly durable, and very well sharpened. This is a traditional technique that was also used for Japanese swords. The surface is treated with Ibushi rustproofing and develops a pleasant patina over time.

Maintenance

Steel with a higher carbon content (so-called carbon steel) offers great sharpness and easier sharpening but requires more care compared to stainless steel. The scissors need to be regularly oiled, preferably before the first use. Keep the carbon steel blade clean and dry after use. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of oil - preferably camellia oil, but almost any household lubricant will do. This oil layer protects the scissors from moisture and corrosion. For longer storage, we recommend conserving them with a suitable oil or wrapping the scissors in a piece of cloth or paper. Patina formation is a normal phenomenon for carbon steel and is not a material defect.

Společnost Misuzu Hasami byla založena v roce 1949 a nabízí výrobky s vynikající ostrostí a trvanlivostí, zdokonalené úspěšnou kombinací tradice a nejmodernější technologie.
