    Manufacturer

    Onoyoshi Hamono is a traditional Japanese blacksmith workshop, founded in 1936 in the city of Ono, Japan. The art of blacksmithing has been passed down through three generations here. Today the workshop is led by two brothers who continue the tradition by crafting precise and beautiful gardening tools by hand – the most intricate of which require more than 100 manufacturing steps. Through a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, Onoyoshi tools are beloved by professional gardeners and enthusiasts around the world.

    Material

    The shears are made from high carbon steel. This gives the material higher hardness, very good durability, and the ability to achieve extreme sharpness. Over time, a patina may develop, but it does not diminish the function.

    Note: Supplied in original cardboard box. A spare spring is included in the package.

    Maintenance

    The shears are intended for cutting fresh branches and stems up to 18 mm in diameter. It is recommended to cut softer and thinner branches to familiarize yourself with the tool before cutting larger and thicker branches. Cutting anything other than plants or their improper use can cause damage. Do not cut hard objects, such as wires, artificial and dried flowers, hard bushes, or bamboo. High carbon steel requires careful maintenance. Always clean the shears after use and keep them dry. Depending on usage, regularly coat them with oil, allow to dry and finish drying. You can use camellia oil or our offered maintenance kit. Oiling is also recommended if you plan to store them for a long period. Sharpen the blades ideally on Japanese water stones, when sharpening only sharpen the front edge of the blade and avoid the back side.
