    Stone Scratcher Sneeboer Garden Scraper

    Keeping the joints between paving stones, walkways, or brickwork clean can be difficult. Weeds and moss settle into narrow gaps where conventional hoes cannot reach. The Stone Scratcher garden scraper by Sneeboer uses a sharp steel tip that easily penetrates gaps and pulls out weeds, roots and all. Thanks to its shape, it can also be used for gentle soil aeration and loosening in densely planted beds, for example between onions or garlic, without damaging the underground parts of the plants.

    Manufacturer

    The Dutch forge Sneeboer & Zn is based in the town of Bovenkarspel and has specialized in the handcrafting of garden tools since 1913. The company was founded by Arend Sneeboer and is now run by the fourth generation of the family. The manufacturer combines traditional forging techniques with the use of stainless steel and local ash wood from sustainably managed forests.

    Material and care

    Sneeboer combines two types of stainless steel: a tougher alloy for attaching the handle and a more malleable steel for the blade itself. The individual parts are hand-welded, ground, and polished. The handle is made of ash wood.


    After use, clean the metal part of dirt and wipe it dry. Before longer-term storage or in case of frequent use, treat both the metal head and wooden handle with camellia oil, which protects the steel against corrosion and the wood against drying out. Store the tool in a dry place and use a sharpening stone or puck for sharpening.

    What you should know

    The scraper is intended for removing weeds and moss from joints, gaps in paving, and masonry, and for gentle loosening between closely spaced rows. Do not use it to pry up large stones or chop through thick, woody roots. Keep out of reach of children.
