Pallarés Solsona

Knifemaking in Solsona has a long tradition dating back to the 16th century. The company Pallarès, founded in 1917, is today the last witness of the famous knife-making industry in the town. The industry experienced its greatest boom in the 18th century when there were 24 workshops in the city, which were part of the guild of Saint Eligius, the patron of knifemakers. The company Pallarès was founded by brothers Lluís and Carles Pallarès Canal, who soon became famous for their quality knives, which they sold in the Solsonès region, as well as in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona.

Material

The choice is between a blade made of stainless steel or high carbon steel CX65 with a hardness of 59 HRC. The handle is lined with oak.

Note: Packaged in Pallarés gift wrapping.
The color and grain of the wood may vary from piece to piece.

The knife pairs excellently with a leather Pallarés sheath measuring 12 cm.

Maintenance

Keep the wooden handle dry. It is not recommended to leave it in water for a long time, as the wood can expand or contract, damaging the knife mechanism.

Carbon steel blades offer superior sharpness and easier sharpening but require more care compared to stainless steel. The knife needs to be oiled periodically, preferably before the first use. Keep the carbon steel blade clean and dry after use. After cleaning, apply a thin layer of oil—preferably camellia oil, but almost any household lubricant like WD-40 will suffice. This layer of oil protects the knife from moisture and corrosion. Camellia oil can also be used to restore the wooden handle.

For regular sharpening, we recommend the natural sharpening stone from Pallarés Solsona. Wet stone can also be used, for example, the Japanese KING sharpening stone.

PALLARES_BRAND-SLIM

Nožířství v Solsoně má dlouhou tradici sahající až do 16. století.
