Product detailed description

Catalan Pocket Knife from Pallarés Solsona

A Catalan folding knife with a stainless steel blade and a polyethylene handle. This is a Slip Joint knife (without a locking mechanism, but with a spring along the spine of the handle), which provides added safety during use. The Común and Ripolles models also feature a half-stop, making opening and closing even easier. The durable handle is molded from polyethylene, is easy to maintain, and features a signature yellow, slightly translucent color. The knife is lightweight yet sturdy, boasts excellent sharpness, and its versatility makes it ideal for the woods, mushroom hunting, camping, fishing, or everyday pocket carry. It is handmade directly in Catalonia in the traditional workshops of Pallarès.

It is produced in several versions: the Común and Gabacha models have a leaf-shaped blade typical for the region and at the same time, the most iconic blade of the brand. The Ripolles model has a yatagan-style blade and a handle with a pronounced curved end. The Mallorquina model is produced in two blade versions and has an arched handle with cutouts. The M.E.P.C  version has a Sheepfoot style blade with a wide flat edge without a tip, ideal for cutting ropes, cords and fishing work including repairing nets. Due to its shape, it can also serve as a spatula for spreading butter, spreads or jam. The second variant, M.E.P.R, has a straight and wide profile with a rounded tip.

Material

Stainless steel 12C27, polyethylene resin.

Note: The knife pairs excellently with the Pallarés leather sheath sized 12 cm.

Maintenance

Since Slip Joint knives are designed without a locking mechanism, they must be handled accordingly. When the knife is open, avoid applying any pressure to the spine of the blade to prevent accidental closing. Pressure must always be applied exclusively to the cutting edge.

For regular sharpening, we recommend the natural sharpening stone from Pallarés Solsona. After a long time of use, the knife may begin to lose its natural smooth operation, which is absolutely common with Slipjoint type locks. To restore, it is sufficient to apply a drop of camelia oil to the end of the blade hidden in the handle when the knife is open. Then close and open the knife a few times to allow the oil to soak into the pivot.

Description

Pallarès Solsona is one of the traditional European manufacturers of knives and gardening tools, in whose products a close connection to craftsmanship and everyday practicality can still be felt. Based in the Catalan town of Solsona, where knife-making has a long history, its simple tools feel naturally at home in the workshop, garden, kitchen, and everyday life. The brand maintains a restrained, almost utilitarian approach - free of ostentation, with an emphasis on function and long-term use. The company has operated since 1917 and continues to produce knives and tools that build on the local knife-making tradition of the region.
