Product detailed description

Floristic Shears Sakagen Japan F-170

These world-renowned Ikebana-type floristic shears are ideal for cutting flowers. The extremely sharp carbon steel blades are coated with a thin layer of fluoropolymer, which reduces friction, prevents sticking, and helps protect against corrosion. The result is a perfectly clean cut that makes it easier for flowers to absorb water. Lightweight and ergonomic handles provide maximum comfort during work. The shears are available in eight color variants and, thanks to their precise craftsmanship, have won the prestigious Good Design Award. They are suitable for everyone, whether you're creating ikebana or just trimming kitchen herbs. The shears are intended only for cutting plant stems. Do not use them on thicker woody parts or hard materials to prevent damage. They are especially suitable for right-handed users.

Manufacturer

Sakagen, based in Sanjo, Japan, has been manufacturing world-renowned floristic shears for over a century. The company was founded in 1903 and specializes in producing high-quality tools that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Their ikebana and bonsai shears have gained recognition worldwide and contribute to preserving Japanese culture. With a focus on quality and aesthetics, Sakagen continues to develop products that meet customers' high expectations.

Material

The blades are made of carbon steel and coated with a fluoropolymer layer, which helps reduce friction during cutting, facilitates cleaning, and partially protects against corrosion. The handles are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), making them soft and comfortable to hold, yet durable against wear.

Note: Delivered in original packaging.
Includes a small protective sheath for the blades that shields them when not in use.

Maintenance

The steel contains a higher carbon content, which means it is more susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, it is important to regularly care for the blades, especially the sharp exposed part. Thoroughly clean and dry the shears after each use.

To protect the steel, we recommend applying a thin layer of oil on the blades after each use or before longer storage - ideally camellia or mineral oil. You can also use our offered maintenance kit.
