    Set of Micro Chisels from Michihamono Japan

    The thinnest micro chisels with a cutting edge width of 0.5 mm that Michihamono manufactures. They are made of high-speed steel, which excels in high hardness and exceptional wear resistance. The long blade fits deeply into a handle made from charred oak wood. This set is ideal for carving very thin lines and details, these are delicate, professional tools designed for precise manual work. The chisels have an extremely thin blade and are intended exclusively for fine manual wood carving by pulling, without using a mallet. The blade should not penetrate the material deeper than its thickness, and should definitely not be used as a lever for removing wood. Cutting strokes should only be vertical - that is, upward or downward - with minimal pressure. It is important to avoid horizontal shear force in any direction. With proper handling, carving in both soft and hard wood is possible, and it can be used for lino cutting as well.

    Material

    The blades are made of high-speed steel, and the handles are made from charred oak wood. High-speed steel (HSS) offers high resistance to wear and long edge retention, which means less frequent sharpening. Thanks to its hardness (62–67 HRC), it holds an edge even when working with hard materials while also being tough enough not to crack or break with manual use.

    Note: The set is delivered in a practical box made of paulownia wood. Each chisel comes with a protective plastic blade cover. 

    Maintenance

    Keep the chisels clean and dry. Regularly treat the blades with oil against corrosion, such as camellia oil. We recommend sharpening the chisels with the utmost care using Japanese water stones – for example, specialized stone for carving tools from the Suehiro brand.
