    French Wool Coat Le Laboureur 

    The French wool coat, which Le Laboureur has been producing for over 60 years, is one of their iconic garments with proven and thoughtful design. It is based on a period pattern that was specially designed for workers working in forges in Gueugnon, France. The wool from which it is made is warm, breathable, and resistant to heat and flames. The simply and practically designed coat is unlined, has a loose fit, and simple sleeves without buttons. It has 3 outer pockets and one inner chest pocket that can be used for tools, but also for a wallet, phone, diary, or gloves. The coat is equivalent to wrapping yourself in a heavy warm blanket and is intended to be thrown over lighter jackets or sweaters as an outer layer for the most demanding weather. Natural wool is hydrophilic and stays warm and comfortable even in rain. The coat is in grise shade, has a dark gray color and red buttons. It is made of 100% natural wool that comes from black sheep in southern France. The fiber is hand-dyed with natural dyes such as indigo, cochineal, birch leaves... without the use of chemicals. Le Labourer wool products are therefore 100% made in France, from sheep breeding to the final finish. The coat has a large embroidered label sewn on the inner pocket and one spare button.

    The company was founded in the 1950s by a young Italian emigrant, Primo Zélanti. From its inception, it has been based in the French town of Digoin in Burgundy. Le Laboureur translates to "ploughman" and its production still focuses on two main areas - workwear and traditional garments of its region. The main goal of Le Laboureur is quality and worker protection, but they are not afraid to add bright colors or interesting functional details to proven cuts. Since 2010, they have also regularly collaborated with designer Junya Watanabe on collections for the Japanese brand Comme des Garçons.

    Material and Care

    100% French wool.

    The wool fiber comes from black sheep in southern France. The wool is first degreased, rinsed, and washed. It is then dried, carded, and spun. The wool fiber is hydrophilic, so it stays dry because the moisture is drawn into the core of the fiber. Thanks to this, the wool remains warm and pleasant, even when exposed to rain. The transformation of raw wool into woolen cloth is a complex process that involves several stages. These are carried out 100% in France.

    The coat is recommended to be aired regularly, and if necessary, only soiled spots should be cleaned by hand. Thorough cleaning is recommended to be entrusted to a dry cleaner. Alternatively, the coat can be washed by hand once in a longer period, considering the natural wool - in lukewarm water, with a special wool detergent, without wringing, and drying on a flat surface.

    Provided measurements are in centimeters. The coat has a slightly oversized fit. We recommend ordering the same size as you usually wear in jackets or coats.
