    French Wool Coat Le Laboureur 

    The French wool coat, which Le Laboureur has been producing for over 60 years, is one of their iconic garments with a proven and thoughtful design. It is based on a vintage pattern, specially designed for workers in the forges of Gueugnon, France. The wool from which it is made is warm, breathable, and resistant to heat and flames. Simply and practically designed, the coat is unlined, has a loose cut and simple sleeves without buttons. It has 3 exterior pockets and one interior chest pocket that can be used for tools, but also for a wallet, phone, diary, or gloves. The coat is equivalent to wrapping yourself in a heavy warm blanket and is intended to be thrown over lighter jackets or sweaters as an outer layer for the most demanding weather. Natural wool is hydrophilic and remains warm and comfortable even in the rain. The coat is in a noire shade,  black in color, with light brown wooden buttons. It is made of 100% natural wool, which comes from black sheep in southern France. The fiber is hand-dyed with natural dyes such as indigo, cochineal, birch leaves... without the use of chemicals. Le Labourer's wool products are thus 100% made in France, from sheep rearing to final finishing. The coat has a large embroidered label sewn on the inside pocket and one spare button.

    The company was founded in the 1950s by a young Italian emigrant named Primo Zélanti. Since its inception, it has been based in the French town of Digoin in Burgundy. Le Laboureur translates to "plowman," and its production still focuses on two main areas - workwear and traditional garments of its region. The main goal of Le Laboureur is quality and worker protection, but they are not afraid to add bright colors or interesting functional details to the proven cuts. Since 2010, they have also regularly collaborated with designer Junya Watanabe on collections for the Japanese brand Comme des Garçons.

    Material and Maintenance

    100% French wool.

    The wool fiber comes from black sheep in southern France. The wool is first degreased, rinsed, and washed. Then it is dried, carded, and spun. The wool fiber is hydrophilic, so it stays dry because moisture is drawn into the core of the fiber. As a result, wool remains warm and pleasant even when exposed to rain. Turning raw wool into wool cloth is a complex process that involves several phases. These are performed 100% in France.

    The coat is recommended to be ventilated regularly, if necessary, clean only the soiled areas by hand. We recommend entrusting thorough cleaning to a dry cleaner. Alternatively, the coat can be hand-washed from time to time, considering the natural wool - in lukewarm water, with a special wool detergent, without wringing, and dried on a flat surface.

    The dimensions listed are in centimeters. The coat has a slightly oversized cut. We recommend ordering the same size as you usually wear with jackets or coats.
