    French Work Shirt Le Laboureur 

    The French work shirt, which Le Laboureur has been producing for over 60 years, has become an iconic garment with a tested and thoughtful design. It features a traditional straight cut with loose sleeves, three external pockets, and one internal chest pocket. Le Laboureur builds on its tradition and, through its garments, makes the history of the French working class accessible. The work shirts and jackets are manufactured in their family factory in Digoin and offer a wide range of colors and materials. Originally worn by agricultural and industrial workers, these shirts have become synonymous with functional style and are ready to become a daily companion in and out of work. They make for a great outer garment that is wide enough for layering but not too bulky on its own. In winter, they can fit under a larger jacket or coat. You can use the pockets for tools, but also for a wallet, phone, diary, or gloves. The shirt in the Noir shade is black with black buttons. It is made from 100% cotton twill of high weight, which is soft, breathable, and easy to maintain. On the inner pocket, there is a large embroidered label stitched on and one spare button.

    Manufacturer

    The company was founded in the 1950s by a young Italian emigrant Primo Zélanti. Since its inception, it has been based in the French town of Digoin in Burgundy. Le Laboureur translates to "plowman," and its production is still focused on two main areas - workwear and the traditional garments of its region. The main aim of Le Laboureur is quality and protection of workers, yet they are not afraid to add bright colors or interesting functional details to their proven cuts. Since 2010, they have also regularly collaborated with designer Junya Watanabe on collections for the Japanese brand Comme des Garçons.

    Material and maintenance 

    100% cotton twill - 340 g/m2.

    Regardless of the material, twill fabrics are sturdy fabrics that maintain their shape and last a long time. Twill made from cotton is valued for its softness, breathability, and easy maintenance. 100% cotton twill garments can be worn year-round because the fabric is breathable while also insulating, making it comfortable in both hot and cold weather. It is also easy to maintain as it can be machine washed and dried at low temperatures without deforming or fading.

    To preserve the fabric and colors as long as possible, it is recommended to clean only stained areas and wash at lower temperatures, up to a maximum of 40°C. Fortunately, work jackets also suit the lived-in look that they acquire after many washes.

    The dimensions shown are in centimeters. The shirt has a slightly oversized cut. We recommend ordering the same size you usually wear in shirts or coats.
