    Product detailed description

    Graphite Putty ArtGraf No1 Viarco

When drawing or sketching, it is often necessary to switch between several tools, from fine pencils for details to charcoal for shading or brushes for subtle transitions. ArtGraf No.1 combines these diverse properties in a single medium. The soft graphite putty, with the consistency of pliable modeling clay, can be easily shaped according to current needs, allowing you to move from a precise sharp point to a broad expressive profile for covering large areas. When mixed with water, the mark can be blurred to create a rich range of tones, from light washed-out grays to deep black contrast.

    About the manufacturer

Viarco is a fourth-generation family-owned company based in São João da Madeira and the only pencil manufacturer in Portugal. It is also one of Europe's oldest pencil factories. Part of its production still relies on mechanical machinery from the mid-20th century and uses materials sourced from certified suppliers. The brand is also known for developing its own ArtGraf range.

    Materials and maintenance

The putty is made from a mixture of ultra-fine graphite, natural binders, and waxes.

It is fully water-soluble, non-toxic, and can be easily washed off your hands with warm water and soap after use. Always return it to its original resealable container after use to preserve its pliability and prevent it from drying out.

    Good to know

The putty behaves similarly to clay. If it starts to dry out, simply add a few drops of water to restore the desired pliability. Even completely hardened putty can be easily restored: pour water directly into the package and leave it to rest for 1 to 2 days until it becomes fully soft again.
