    Carving Set Michihamono Japan

    The set of seven carving chisels from the Japanese company Michihamono represents a combination of traditional handcrafting and modern materials. Each knife and chisel is handcrafted. The handles made of strong> cherry wood (sakura), adorned with a kanji brand, provide not only strength but also a pleasant feel when held. The blades are made of high-speed steel which features high hardness, long-lasting sharpness, and wear resistance. The wooden handle can be opened and the blade removed for convenient sharpening or adjusting its length. In this way, the blade can also be gradually extended in case it becomes shorter due to regular sharpening - which ensures chisels exceptionally long-lasting life span. This set is ideal for wood carving, inlay creation, linocut, and musical instrument production. A great choice for both beginners and experienced craftsmen.

    Material

    The blades are made of high-speed steel, the handles of cherry wood. High-speed steel (High Speed Steel - HSS) offers high wear resistance and long-lasting blade edge, meaning less frequent sharpening. Thanks to its hardness (62–67 HRC), it retains sharpness even when working with hard materials and is tough enough not to crack or break during manual use. 

    Note: The set is delivered in a practical paulownia wood box. Each chisel comes with a protective plastic blade cap. 

    Maintenance

    Keep the chisels clean and dry. Regularly treat the blades with anti-corrosion oil, such as camellia oil. The wooden handle can be opened and the blade removed for easy sharpening or adjusting its length. After removing the brass cap, simply gently twist the top part of the handle to the side - the lower part is connected by a wooden dowel that holds both parts together.
    We recommend sharpening the chisels regularly using Japanese water stones, for example, a special stone for carving tools from the Suehiro brand.
